The way we avoid this issue is to have everyone bring some food if they can, and to BYOB.

Except for there's a couple of us who have keg fridges and/or sometimes guys get kegs (cuz we can go through a pony w/o a problem), then if people wanna drink from that, they can kick in some money to the host. And if they don't wanna kick in, they're cheap and that's their problem.

We usually end up with a ton of kickass food because everyone brings a little something different, and generally the host makes up something a little more exciting.

And if a couple guys can't bring something this time or that time its fine, because we've still got plenty of food.

It works out pretty well, its no pressure, and no drama.
