Default Re: A hand that made me laugh (NC)

You see stuff like this more often online than live. Live players are generally worse and more passive and the games are softer, but rarely do you see people calling raises while playing the board/with the nut low.

Last night, I saw what may be the dumbest poker play I've ever seen at a live 6/12 table.

I get J7o in the BB and see a free flop 4-handed. It's JJ8 with 2 clubs. I bet and get one caller. Turn gives me quad jacks. I bet, caller calls.

River is the Qc. I bet and now he raises. Excellent, he has a Q! I wonder how many bets he'll go -- so I 3-bet, and he calls.

He turns his hand over first: Tc3c. He made a flush on the river, with a board of JJJQ8. He was the type of player who should know even 22 beats him, but his play here was inexplicable. It had the entire table laughing at him (except me, I congratulated him on the nice hand and apologized for getting lucky). When Hollywood Park 6/12 players laugh at you, you know you screwed up big time.
