Yes, you played for a living during the summer, but your hit on the tourny looks to your friend like found money. So, why would you be such a tightwad about $40 when you just made 70X that much?

Feel free to never tell how you are doing again, but you need to consider the situation your roommate is in. He probably really does need that $40 - show some heart and some maturity, and some understanding.

Personally, I figure the more you can do for others, the more comes your way. You can live your life anyway you want..........

There's a huge problem with this.

One, it would be different if the OP offered out of the kindness of his heart, but no... his room mate took it upon himself because he felt he should be given money because OP's money was like hitting the lottery. Problem is, what do you do next time he wants money, or if someone else does this. If you continue to do this with everyone who asks, where do you draw the line? If a good friend or family member has a reason where they need it thats different. But just wanting money because you have it is ridiculous. I respond typically with "if i made this money working at mcdonalds, would you ask for it then? oh no? so why ask for it now, if its so easy to win money on here then you shuld try it out, or better yet, next time im going to get on here and win money you give me the $400 I have to risk in order to make the 1k you saw".
