well, it works pretty well when you're on button or in blinds, and there's an openraise from LP or LMP that could likley be a steal. if you have 12-15BB its a pretty good time to push if you have anything reasonable.
if there's a decent chance the player is on a total steal you increase your stack a ton, but they'll still call you pretty loose since your stack isn't too big, so if you got something like AT or KQ you might actually be a favorite when you get called. so its just like a really profitable semibluff if you don't overuse it.
