You played it fine. With the preflop action and flop action your hand looks like a big ace (do these guys read hands?) When you donkbet the turn and get raised he tells you he can beat an Ace or is looking for a free showdown (do these guys look for free showdowns?) When you donkbet the river and get raised he is telling you he still doesn't care if you improved.

The title leads me to believe you were good and think you should have 3bet the river. Try not to title you posts so that it gives away the play.
