I tired this today with my year 4 class (9 year olds), the majority of the kids got 6 f's. Only the clever ones got three.
So I reckon it is more to do with how you approach reading (sounds, or letter by letter or word by word) rather than how smart you are.
It was good to see the kids who struggle beat the smarty pants kids in the class with this challenge.
it also probably tells me the majority of my class struggle, must have something to do with their n00b teacher.
