As played you lack the necessary information to make a good decision here. You haven't defined your hand. You could be against two FDs or a flush draw and an OESD or something really awful here like A8. As played I fold, very unhappily.

I asssumed he was checking intending to c/r. You didn't give a read of yoru opponents specifically the flop raiser and it makes a big difference. In general I think calling and then donkbetting safe/good turns and c/fing scary ones is a good line. I too would have just bet the flop though.
