If you raise on third, the bring-in is the only player you even have the potential to get to fold. It is rare for someone to limp for half a bet and then fold for the other half. If you just call and wait until fourth to raise, you might be able to get two or even three people to fold. If the Ace is still high and bets on fourth and you raise, the other guys will have to call two bets cold. Heck, if the Ace checks and you bet, maybe everyone will fold, which would be a good result.
