I've gotten that sometimes when I'm super tired but have too much caffeine in me. The feeling of falling down, down, down, then suddenly getting caught up like my parachute violently opened and slammed me harshly upward out of sleep when I was right on the brink of sleep, crossing over into it. When I've been super-caffeined, I've had this happen many times in succession, and that kind of screwing with my system repeatedly in a short period of time can leave my head really spinning and make me feel outright delirious.
