Gonna Labour the point here, but the book is outstandingly good. The backdrop to the writing of the book is pretty interesting also -- Kesey was working at an institute testing out drugs. He then went on to bring LSD to the masses and was a central figure in the early hippy movement.
It's worth picking up a history of Kesey and the Merry Pranksters.... the Tom Wolfe one is the most famous but not to everyones taste.
