I think this is a situation where I'd bet into the maniac on the flop and hope he'd raise up his garbage to blow away the button & SB. I definitely think I'd find a raise somewhere on that flop.
Button (you say a passive player) check/3-betting the turn scares the ever-loving crap out of me. I'd probably call the river anyway, but it's close...
