The McEvoy article says if there are 3 limpers and you are in CO with AA to raise to 8xBB to take the pot or get heads up.
The point of a power play like that is legitimate, and you might use it against limpers with AQ, KQs, TT, or something, or as a steal.
With AA, I would probably raise to about 5xBB here, more or less depending on how the table is playing. I want to get called, but I want to narrow the field and build the pot.
Some people put in a pot building raise to make sure they get called. I think that is dangerous, because you let too many people in with a small pot. Plus you may tip off your hand, enabling people to make correct decisions.
Overbetting the pot with AA is fine is if you think you will get a caller. However, McEvoy acts like taking the 4.5xBB pot preflop is a good result. This seems like a scared approach or that of someone who plays badly after the flop.
