Do not know the science behind it, but it is because your urithra is partially closed. When you get wood, one tube closes so the the other can let the little swimmers in. In the morning, when you wake up, with partial wood, it is kind of like putting your fingure over a garden hose. not even sure if this is right, but that is my theory.
