EDIT: OK, I finally figured it out. You posted above that you wanted your standard error to be ~0.5. That's the same as saying I want 1.96*SE = 1. So I'm just being a nit about it, where you're doing a rough calculation.

Mine should change to:

1.96*SD/sqrt(n) = 1

So n ~ 1,245 or about 124,500 hands.
