Why let your opponent see a free turn card when he will fold now? Because you make a lot from when he keeps firing on the turn? I think that is a decent reason to flat call on the flop. Lack of fold equity is not very important, as you're only really behind sets and your hand is vulnerable to unknown outs.
I push the flop every day, but I can see how against a very aggro opponent calling is more profitable.
Edit: Plus your fold equity, tiny though it is, is actually more important than it seems. The better 7s he folds have you in comparatively bad shape.
