Jeremy's driver and a woman whose identity has yet to be released also died in the crash. The woman was hospitalized in critical condition.

"According to preliminary information, the offending car attempted to avoid a collision with an oncoming automobile, drove off the embankment and swerved to hit Jeremy's vehicle," said a representative of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The accident occurred at about 1:20 a.m. local time while Jeremy, 52, was traveling to a nearby residence to attend the 61st-birthday celebration for a friend. It was unclear how fast the car was traveling or whether the passengers had worn seat belts.

Jeremy was born on Mar. 12, 1953, in Queens, New York. His work as a pornography actor gained him wide celebrity status, and notoriety worldwide.
