I think we have a winner. The fact that he has only been mentioned by one person further proves his under-rated qualties. The Screaming Trees/Mark Lanegan are widley forgotten from the Grunge era but should be mentioned in the same breath as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc. His solo stuff is also very good.
The problem with guys like Scott Weilend/Chris Cornell, etc. is 2 fold, they are widley recognized as being great, and they've each put out a couple stinkers to go along with their quality material. Yes, STP Purple & Core are amazing but have you ever listend to Tiny Music?
Finally, off-topic Dean & Robert DeLeo of STP are well deserving of being considered for most underated guitar/ bass players.
