What's funny about all this is that just two weeks ago my co-worker told me they were thinking of razing the Dome, due to the fact that it costs $1.5 Million per year to keep it in operation (before 10,000 people were added to it) and it's not doing anything.

Now it's doing something.

*Reliant Energy bought the rights to the Astrodome from the Harris Co. Houston Sports Authority when the Astros moved into Minute Maid Park (formerly Enron Field) back in 2000. They (Reliant) have basically been keeping it in operation until they could "figure out what to do with it". Several people want to turn it into a huge casino, but I doubt it will come to fruition.
