Limited time is a big one. If you're staying somewhere for a year or even two and the market is ridiculously inflated and so forth you might be better off renting than gambling on buying.
You might also want to rent for a few months while figuring out the local real estate market, finding suitable houses etc.
Basically, it's pretty ignorant to say there are no valid reasons for renting.
