Yeah, but the pot is small for one...so it is not criminal for 1 bet to go in on each street with no "attempt to get him to lay it down.
Aside from check raising the turn, (or maybe donk betting the turn) , it is unlikely that AK is not going to the river anyway.
If we check raise the flop, it is very likely that if the villain hold an overpair, he call the c/r and pop us on the turn. And, many aggressive players (perhaps his numbers don't bear this out, but it is hard to say) will 3-bet the flop with overs. So we can make some bad folds, even after putting in 1 BB in a smallish pot.
The more weaker and more straightforward my opponent, the more I like a flop c/r. The better and more solid my opponent, the more I like a check/call, check/call, bet line.
