Default Engagement + restaurant report in San Diego

A few weeks ago I asked OOT for a restaurant recommendation in San Diego and I got a lot of great help. I need to thank Patrick Del Poker Grande in particular for his help in suggesting the Sky Room at La Valencia in La Jolla. See original thread HERE

I flew into San Diego after working in Tampa FLA all week where my girlfriend has been living for the last couple months and I am moving to in 3 weeks for grad school. On Saturday night we went to the Sky Room where I was immediately impressed by the view, which is even better than I imagined. The restaurant is on the tenth floor of a very old hotel with a great view of La Jolla Cove from three sides.

My girlfriend had never tried caviar so we ordered that for an appetizer along with foie gras. I learned a lesson that maybe I should have already known - but when something says "market price" you should probably ask. I didn't and was slightly surprised the caviar was $120 which I only found out at the end of the night but at that point didn't care...

For main courses she had lobster with scallops and I had a kobe beef filet which was excellent but I can barely remember tasting it since I was extremely nervous. After dinner I proposed and luckily she said yes. This is where I was extremely impressed with the restaurant as not 10 seconds after she said yes etc. they were at the table with champagne, roses, and a congratulations dessert, which was much more than I expected.

Here is a picture from the evening...
