Default Re: Puerto Vallarta Vacation

I've been there a few times now and you won't be disappointed.

There is a place up in the hills, it was called The Hacienda I think. It's an old ranch house. Excellent food and cheap. Seafood is their specialty but they had plenty of other things on the menu. It's all outdoor dining overlooking the city. Just ask the concierge, they'll know what its called for sure.

If you need a break from Mexican food and like Japanese the Mikado place in the Marriot is very good but not cheap. Its a tepanaki place. Sorry about the spelling, no clear here.

There is a half day boat trip, or maybe its longer than that. They start with a little whale watching (while in season) then head to this very secluded mountain/beach area that you can only get to by boat. It is a wonderful jungle setting with a beach. You can kyak, snorkle, and scuba or just hang out on the beach eating and drinking. Try the rum punch if that's your sort of thing.

The beach in front of the Marriot was the best beach I saw. It's gorgeous white sand. The Marriot is an excellent place and that's where we stayed on the last trip. I think its called Magna Carta or something like that.

For nightlife just head down to the boardwalk area. I think its called the Manacodo or something like that. There is a ton of nightlife down there. Everything from nice authentic mexican food to wild dance places. The Zoo is a bar that has never let us down if you like it loud and roudy. If you're looking for something more normal, Carlos and Charlies always has a lot going on.

You'll want to get Pesos probably. Don't do it at the airport. The rates are much better in town.

The four hour ATV tour is cool. You really get out there and see the people and things. I've heard the dune buggy tours are also fun, though I've never tried that.

good luck and have a blast.
