Default Re: limit and the capped raises

[ QUOTE ]
I am new to limit (mostly play ss NL and SnGs) but have studied limit quite a bit. But what is the history or the reason of having capped betting at 3 raises. I think it should be higher or even no cap but maybe that is stupid. Could someone enlighten me?

Generally, if a street starts heads-up, there's no cap (at casinos and at some sites).

One reason is to prevent someone who has the nut flush draw from getting caught between two guys with sets who are bashing eachother for their entire stack. It sucks to get slowly stacked with the flush draw.
