"This move comes as the Eastern Band met Wednesday with representatives from Gov. Mike Easley's office for the second time this year. The tribe answered questions about how its request to have live table games such as poker, blackjack and other offerings is consistent with federal and state law and relevant court decisions.

"…Such activity prompted concerns from the N.C. Family Policy Council, the state's chief opponent on gaming issues.

"…The Eastern Band says bringing live table gaming to Harrah's Cherokee could create as many as 430 additional jobs with an increased payroll of $15.2 million…"
