I've actually tried to use a pink chip in a NLHE game at Turning Stone. A bunch of nits protested, but I pointed out that it is a valid casino chip and the dealer ended up allowing it.

Of course, this chip would only come into play in either a heads-up pot (where it would be given as change to the other player after he calls my bet), or in an all-in situation.

If I remember correctly, I shoved it all-in and then ended up getting it back because I lost the pot but had the other player covered.
