This thread got megantw excited and we'll be going to Old Town tonight. They also have very good fried calamari with a dipping sauce that is horseradish-y and therefore yummy.
Also, I can't believe I didn't remember these places:
Union Square Cafe is said to have an excellent, fairly inexpensive burger but only for lunch.
21 allegedly uses duck fat in their burgers. Genius.
