If you don't have much of a PT database built up, stack sizes can be a quick way of getting a preliminary read on a table. And yes, generally speaking the short-stacked player is the donkey at the table.

But you do have to be careful with this read & adjust on the fly as necessary. Especially on 6max, you'll often sit down at a table where the short stack is actually a good TAG, and the big stack is a donk who's been running ungodly hot during the session.

Usually you can get a better idea of who the good player(s) and the atm(s) are over your first couple orbits.
