Waiting for the turn to make a move can be right when the pot is very big, but with 4BB, risking a check-raise is quite silly. A pot this small, you can't be checking/calling. You should have bet, especially considering your "overcall" tactic by merely calling isn't very effective if everyone else besides the flop better folded.
Your hand isn't easily dominated, the pot is small-- bet out.
