There was a David Wells in the tourney and he started the day after he pitched and the WSOP was during the All-Star break.

The Sox always let Pedro go home for a few days around the break.

Not saying it was him, but very possible as it would not have effected his starts. Not like they are going to use him for a pinch runner or anything.
