Well it turns out that villian had J8s all along. He flopped the straight and played it in a very weak way. Oh well.
I called it down. I think that I was correct but I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't a huge leak. I can see the merits of checking behind but I think that that is a slightly weak tight way to play it. I think that erring on the side of aggression with a big hand is the right way to play it.
Too bad I didnt pair the board and punish villian for his weak tightness.
