The OP was creating a hypothetical from a specific hand that he/she had posted in the SS forum. Clearly, if the raise is from the button, and thus probably a steal bet, one would raise without thinking.
The question, I think, is what happens when the SB cold calls a raise from a MP player. At a Mid/High table, with no reads, this seems like a folding situation, or at best a call (5-1 PO). You can't be best with AJo, and unless you're confident in being able to lay down to a raised flop/turn when an A hits, I think you lose a big pot or win a small one.
