Oh, sorry I just saw that. It still puts you at a disadvantage, because he knows your hand, and you don't know his.
If he only plays starting hands that have both cards higher than an 8, i think he has about a 35% chance to flop a pair. So there is still a pretty good chance that he outflops you. Of course if this is no-limt you are a favorite over all hands except 99, TT, JJ, QQ, KK, and AA. So if you give him less than 2-1 odds to call preflop, he has a very small chance to have you beat and you are making his call a bad call. If this is limit, I don't see how you could win without, as you said, picking off his flop and postflop bluffs.
