If I'm the manager, I find excuses to "manage" this douchebag out of a job. Anyone who is that much of a dick in a poker tournament is not someone I want working for me. Dickishness is not entirely situational. I do not hit him.
If I'm the fired employee, I file a police report and request criminal charges against the supervisor for assault and battery. I may also file a civil suit for recovery of expenses, pain and suffering. No need to pull a bullshit "American Beauty" stunt. The manager was out of line, and worse than the employee (who, nonetheless, deserved this inappropriate beating).
