Default Re: Welcome to the 2003 World Records Of Poker

As things go, I tend to remember the bad streaks moreso than the good ones.

I had a stretch in 1996 when I lost with AA 48 out of 50 times over a period of several weeks. I know this because naturally, I started to keep track after getting 'em cracked about 10 or so times in a row. It was getting to the point where when I got the Aces, I was mentally writing out a cheque for about $160 (20-40 game) made payable to the "schmuck in seat 3". The game that I played in rarely ever featured a flop taken by less than 5 players - this was the year that casino poker first came to Vancouver and we were all clueless (including me).

2 years ago, I lost $2800 in an online 20-40 game without winning a pot in the session (about 6 hours or so if memory serves me right)

On the bright side, I had a 34 session winning streak several years ago at the Holiday Inn 10-20 game here in Vancouver. Even that had a negative to it in that there were many sessions when I kept playing way too long just to keep the streak alive. This past year, I had a 17 session winning streak. One night, I was down about $250. I had an early meeting the next day at work so the wiser me left the poker game at 11 pm as scheduled. Streaks be damned.

In a 5 player max 20-40 table online, I was up 7k in 4 or 5 hours and then gave back 4K in the next two or three hours. And I am not a wild player so you can imagine the churning of my stomach during this roller coaster ride. Winning 3K for the session felt just brutal if you can believe that.
