Actually the more important issue here is that on the flop the bets are only a small bet and on the turn they are twice as much.

My line here would be to bet the flop and call a raise. The flop bet is for a few reasons. First, I might have the best hand. Second, villian might fold a hand that is beating me. Third, I have a strong draw (king outs will be good here reasonably often as well) I also represent a made hand and force the villian to react to me.

If the villian raises I will call getting odds on my flush draw. If I miss the turn I will not have odds to see the river so I will check/fold.
