I don't like your preflop call. Pocket fours is a tough hand to play. You're short stacked, relatively, so you don't have much set equity. Compounding the situation is
your opponent. Against tough opponents I don't like playing marginal hands.

On the flop I would either push or raise his bet 3-4x. On
second thought since my opponent is skillful and I assume
he can play all streets well, I'll push. I now get to see
the next two cards and I won't get outplayed. On a good day
he will either fold, I have the best hand, or my draw gets there.
