Default Re: An In-Depth Question About Bankroll Management

The truth is that the bankroll you 'need' is fairly subjective. A 300 BB bankroll is fine if you are playing poker as a hobbie, can move down limits, and it is replenishable. There were times when I played with far <300 BB rolls. If you are derriving a substantial postion of your income from poker, cannot easily replenish your roll and do no want to step down limits, then 300 BB is not near a sufficient bankroll and something in the 700-1k BB area would be better.

So to answer your question, both of your examples are correct because they have different assumptions behind them.
