A little known fact about Stevens:

He grew up as a Republican, his father was a Republican politician. He has stated in the past that he wants to replaced by a Republican President. We may think of him as on the liberal side of the court, but like Whizzer White on the Democratic side, Stevens has taken his party affiliation seriously.
