It has been said that Stuey had 10k or so on him the night he went to the hotel room with the 2 hookers to do drugs, and it has been said that doing this essentially guaranteed the girls would OD him to knock him out and take the $$$. No one knows for sure, but definitely possible

It was in the Card Player feature article on him, it was stated in the sense of "I of course don't know if this is true but it is what I think most likely happened" way by somebody who had some credibility, forget who.

Of course Stu could have OD'd 100 times over the years, and he could have OD'd in the future if he stayed alive. He probably could have died any day from multiple causes. If I shoot a guy, the fact that he wrestles grizzly bears doesn't mean I didn't kill him.
