I was there for a couple of hours last Saturday (2 July). There were a few tables of $3/$6 hold'em and $200 max NLHE. There was maybe one table each of $5/$10 hold'em and $5/$10 O/8.

I was playing $3/$6 hold'em when an older gent tottered over to the seat to my left. Eventually, he started chatting with me and offering me advice. "You'll lose your shirt in this game if you play every hand. That's the problem with some of these young men... playin' every damn hand." He must have noticed that I play far from every hand; my cards had been so cold my nipples could cut glass.

"Well, what kind of hands do you like to play?" I ask.

"I play every third hand. That seems to me to be the trick, every third hand. Unless they're suited, of course. I can't get rid of 'em if they're suited."

Normally, you pay for those kind of lessons, but there he is just giving that kind of advice away for free.
