Default Re: Poker school online?

I did this when I first started playing and it actually set me back a bit.

The concept is OK, but the implementation is not so great.

Stick to these forums and you will get what you want.

The process is as follows:

1) Read all of the strategy posts for the last month of the limit you intend to play.

2) After reading all of the posts and responses, respond to the ones you don't understand with questions about the things you missed.

3) Start responding to the strategy posts yourself. Be prepared to discuss your reasoning. This is where you really start learning.

4) Play at your limit and post your own hands. Preferrably 1 or 2 per day.

5) Participate in the discussion of your own hands, of course.

6) Keep an open mind. Sometimes people will tell you things in a rude way. This doesn't make them wrong. Often poker players need a jolt like this. Don't take anything personally.

7) Make sure you understand the math. Do this right after you know the hand rankings. You won't understand any of the replies (the good ones) without an understanding of the basic math. (it's not hard)

If you can't get it from here, you most likely can't get it at all.

Good Luck

Welcome to the game and the boards.
