Default SS DIGEST (June 25)

SS DIGEST (June 25)

Well, some have asked for a digest of the best threads of the week.

As I said in my reply to that thread, I decided on my own to do something similar for myself a few weeks ago and this will be an extension of that. I'll gladly do this every week if it turns out that people still want it, but if the threads do not get bumped and the discussions are not interesting, then I see no reason in reposting these. Also, it does take a fair amount of time looking through all the threads to see what I missed, so if this thread doesn't get stuff rolling I won't continue.

I really did go back 35 pages and checked for the good posts. Obviously I couldn't read every one, but I made sure to check all the posts that looked like they might be of interest (good poster, many replies, many views, etc.). Obviously this is an inherently objective post since we are dealing with what I deem to be a "good" thread. Every thread listed is probably not going to interest you. Some have had much discussion already, some very little. In the future, I'd be glad to listen to others' input on which threads to use (again assuming doing this proves worthwhile).

So, listed below are my top ten for the week of June 19 - June 25 along with a description of the important concepts and themes involved.

1. Should I have been in this hand still? - Counting outs, Free card (would like to see discussion on 3-betting).

2. Understanding the difference between good heads up and mulitway hands. - Preflop discussion about hand types after many limpers.

3. Isolating preflop poll - When to isolate a loose limper is hard to decide sometimes. Chances are you either do it too much or not nearly enough.

4. AQs and a monster draw - best line for the turn? - Just a good discussion and a hand that makes you think. Look at the differences b/w this hand and the one Entity links.

5. I have top pair, I call. - Playing passive is OK in some spots.

6. Typical Situation - Playing good hands OOP against opponents showing strength preflop.

7. One line doesn't fit all... - Good discussion from great players. Playing against a TAG.

8. A bit of strange pre-flop action - Weird hand. Value betting the river?

9. Can I fold this? A Canterbury 8/16 hand... - Putting your opponent on a range.

10. Daily Hand Post: "Amazingly Standard" AQ? - Inducing a river bluff. Calling with ace high.
