The Kite Runner
Book by an Afghani writer about life in pre-Soviet Afghanistan through the coalition invasion (not that far yet though).
I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it so far - and by enjoying it I mean having tears well up every dozen pages or so. Verry powerful writing - I definitely reccomend it.
