I totally agree. Tipping is not because you dragged a big pot. It's a way for everyone to take turns to tip a dealer who is doing a good job by running the game well, i.e. making sure people act in turn, that the cards stay in order, enforcing any other rules or proper ettiquette.

If you suck as a dealer or show lack of attention to your job, you do not deserve a penny. Tips are earned not an entitlement. (And as a side note, that's the problem with the world today an overall sense of entitlement.)

I generally tip a buck, but in Vegas you will see the "pros" tipping 50 cents.
