Default Re: Skateboard Jumping Question

Gripping tape uh? Well that explains it. Thanks guys for the web site and the explanation. On the show I watched I just didn't notice the tape. Plus skateboards seem to be much more flexible than the solid wood skateboard I had as a kid in the early 1970's (no sh**, solid wood with stone-like wheels), which allows for a great deal of bounce compared with mine as a kid which had zero bounce. Anyway, Mystery solved.

Thanks again.

I think you may be misinterpreting and/or the other poster didn't explain it well -
Your feet don't really stick to the grip tape. The front foot really is just levelling out the board, not lifting it up by being stuck to it.
It's as simple as the back wheels acting as a fulcrum. You stomp down on the tail and the front part of the board pops into the air.
If you were stand behind the board and stomp down on the tail, you'd see pretty easily how the board gets completely off the ground.
