You say good players play hands like K10o in the early rounds. If that's true, they're probably doing it rarely, with position and against weak opponents. If you have a chance to play a hand heads up with a true fish in the early rounds, K10o doesn't look that bad.

Generally, though, hands like KJo aren't what you want to play in the early rounds. You want to play small pairs and premium big cards so you can make a big hand and bust the guy who decides to overplay top pair questionable kicker. Once you hit about 600-650 in chips, though, you may as well stop seeing flops altogether. You need those chips to have at least some fold equity in level 4.
