Default Re: Vegas Rants and Observations

Excellent point, Clarkmeister... I suppose one concern about the casinos' attitude in this respect is "will the interest hold up"? Right now Vegas is booming, but will these (marginally) anti-consumer policies stand up if and when things slow down, and the supply of tourist dollars shrinks? I'd imagine there has to be some point on the curve when it becomes in a casino's best interest to offer better bets than the guy across the street.

It pertains to slots, but here's an interesting tidbit related to consumer price sensitivity. The most popular slot machines right now BY FAR are video reel machines that hold 10-15%. There are lower hold machines all over every casino right now, including video poker machines that only hold 2-3% yet casino's can't get enough of the 15% video reel machines on the floor to keep up with demand.

The vast majority of gambling consumers are totally insensitive to price.
