I think that this is NOT a time to value bet. This is a $1-$2 table with people who limp with Ax all the time. When that Ace hits on the turn, I think there is a strong chance he's betting and calling your raise because he's just hit top pair with a mediocre kicker, as you have. If you bet the river you can't beat A7 through AA, pocket 2s, pocket 7s, pocket jacks. So when we ask the question: What hands will call you that you beat?, the answer is, fewer than beat you.

If someone can explain to me in detail why this is a bet on the river, I'm always eager to learn.
