Default Quick review of the Wynn poker room

I know this is OT, but since I was there on opening day I thought I'd give a quick review in case anybody cares.

The Wynn is elegant and pleasantly designed, as expected. It is not as awe-inspiring as the Bellagio, but the lack of an underlying "theme" actually makes it seem a bit more refined.

The poker room is a little smaller than the Bellagio's, which surprised me... but it's extrememely comfortable and well-appointed. There's an entirely separate VIP/high limit room which I could not get into (even though I told them I was Irieguy; Negreanu owed me 50-large, I knew he was in there losing my money.)

The chairs are the most comfortable I have ever sat in at a poker room. They are thickly padded and apholstered in brown corduroy. The padding around the tables is also dark brown, which gives the whole room a feel different than that of any other poker room. It's nice.

Unfortunately, I can't really review the games because I was there at 5am and there were only a few low limit hold'em games and a 20-40 omaha game with all the same jokers that normally occupy the Bellagio game at 5am. I did have the pleasure of sitting down at an $8/$16 holde'em table, capping the action preflop without looking at my cards, raising blind on every street, and scooping a nice big pot with 5c-7s and 4 clubs on the board. I then said "this game's dead," and walked away after only playing one hand. (My original plan was to sit there for maybe a half hour, max... just to check it out, but this way was much more fun.) The Wynn staff did their due dilligence and extracted my poker winnings from me before I could exit the casino... but I still feel like a winner.

So, if you are ever in town I would certainly recommend checking it out... but I would have to say that it could be a bit disappointing if your expectations are a high as mine were. I guess I was expecting to be blown away, which probably isn't a very realistic expectation for a poker room.
