Default Re: Myrtle Beach

I played on the SunCruz boat over New Year's. They had 2 or 3 5-10 Hold Em tables and a 10-20 Hold Em table going. The 5-10 table that I played at was very soft, to say the least. It was a lot of fun though and I would definitely recommend going if you are looking to play some poker while in Myrtle. It's nothing like Vegas or AC but not bad.

A few words of caution. You have to buy a ticket to get on the boat. The ticket costs $10 (we got a brochure for free admission at a Cigar Shop near the boat) and they will oversell the boat. The boat sails at 7:00 but once they are full, they won't let you on even if you have a ticket. I was there during Presidents weekend and we got our tickets around 6:00 and went to a bar nearby to get something to eat (There is a dive bar right next to the boat that is scary looking but has great wings and burgers). When we got to the boat around 6:50 they had stopped letting people on, even if you had a ticket. There is another boat nearby that was still letting people on, so we went on that boat. I would strongly recommend NOT going on that boat. It is about 1/3 of the size of the SunCruz boat and was extremely crowded. It was extremely difficult to get on one of their 10 or so gaming tables let alone get on the one poker table that they had. It was hard to even walk around the one very small room that had all of the tables. It was very hot, and the Jack and Coke that I asked for was poured out of a clear bottle with masking tape on it labeled "Whiskey".

The boat leaves at 7:00 and takes an hour to get out to Sea far enough to gamble. There is no gambling or drinking during the hour trip out or in, so you have from 8:00 to 12:00 to play, and the boat gets back around 1:00 am.

Good luck if you go. Let us know how you make out.
